The meeting on 29 May in Athens between the President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority, the representatives of UPCAST Project and the members of OKFN Greece was completed with great success.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority, the Scientific Coordinator of UPCAST Project, Professor Giorgos Konstantinidis and the President of OKFN Greece, Professor Charalampos Bratsas together with the Researcher of OKFN Greece, Dr. Lazaros Ioannidis. During the meeting, attendees discussed about open data disposal, highlighting the challenges in terms of data transparency and accessibility.
Moreover, the Scientific Coordinator of UPCAST Project, Professor Giorgos Konstantinidis, was referred to the project’s overall development, providing details regarding its future prospects and presenting some of Hackathon’s main objectives. Subsequently, the President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority announced the upcoming participation of Hellenic Statistical Authority in Hackathon, the upcoming competition run by OKFN Greece that aims to create an online platform where citizens and public organizations in Thessaloniki would be able to communicate, collaborate and obtain open data from public authorities. Lastly, Professor Charalampos Bratsas together with Dr. Lazaros Ioannidis launched an open data market place developed by OKFN Greece that has been created to enhance data re-usability, transparency, accessibility and disposal.
